TEMECULA, CA—On Friday afternoon, two cars crashed in an undeveloped part of Temecula. The California Highway Patrol reported that one vehicle involved was a Tesla Cybertruck which flipped over onto its roof and reportedly plowed through a stop sign.
Nobody sustained serious injuries in the accident.
Around 3:59 p.m., the accident happened at the junction where Benton Road meets Washington Street. The California Highway Patrol arrived to discover the Cybertruck upside down in a field, with a disabled Honda Odyssey scattered across the intersection.
The Tesla Cybertruck, operated by a 65-year-old resident of Winchester, was moving east on Benton Road toward the T-junction with Washington Street at around 40 miles per hour.
At the same time, a 44-year-old woman from Menifee was operating a 2015 Honda Odyssey traveling south on Washington Street.
As per Lassig’s account, she halted entirely at the crossing where Benton Road meets another street, possessed the right of way, and continued forward after coming to a halt at the stop sign.
As she proceeded through the stop sign, the driver of the Tesla Cybertruck did not come to a halt and crashed into theHonda Odyssey.
The impact made the Cybertruck flip over southeastward into an open area, crossing through a barbed-wire fence," explained Lassig. The Cybertruck landed upside down, whereas the Odyssey came to rest facing north at the junction of Benton Road and Washington Street.
"A 15-year-old boy who was a passenger in the Cybertruck reported feeling pain due to this accident," Lassig stated.
Everyone participating in the car crash had their seat belts on, and no severe injuries occurred.
There were no citations or arrests, as everyone involved remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
The California Highway Patrol’s Temecula division is looking into this traffic accident.
