This announcement comes via an official statement from the Idaho State Police.

Dietrich - The Idaho State Police is looking into a major accident that happened between a pickup truck and a freight train. This incident took place around 6:38 p.m. on April 8, 2025, at the intersection of 189 South 1000 East in Lincoln County.

A 74-year-old man from Dietrich was driving north on 1000 East in a white 2012 GMC Sierra when his truck hit a train. It struck the back right side of the vehicle, leading to a rollover accident.

The driver of the GMC wasn't buckled up with a seat belt. They were airlifted to a nearby hospital via medical helicopter.

The Idaho State Police received support from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office as well as Lincoln County Emergency Medical Services.

The incident is still being investigated by the Idaho State Police.
