According to officials from the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, a 27-year-old man from Triad died as a result of an accident.
On Wednesday, approximately at 6:35 a.m., authorities reported responding to an accident in Iredell County along southbound Interstate 77 near Interstate 40. According to officials, a Mitsubishi traveling on I-77 did not slow down adequately.
Subscribe to our NewslettersAuthorities stated that the Mitsubishi collided with a Volvo tractor-trailer devoid of a trailer. This impact led to the semi-truck smashing into a Chevrolet SUV as well.
The man driving the Mitsubishi, named Jared Nelson, aged 27, succumbed to his wounds at the location of the incident.
Authorities stated that the operator of the semi-truck experienced slight injuries, whereas the individual driving the SUV did not sustain any harm.
Authorities stated that they think speeding was responsible for the accident.
